Tena Hoeve passed away Monday August 17th, 2020 in Creston, B.C. with family by her side.
Tena was born August 5th, 1934 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan to John and Helena Rempel, the oldest of 9 children. Leaving Saskatchewan in her mid 20’s she moved to the Creston Valley where she worked at a number of local dairy farms as a milk maid. She married Lukas Hoeve December 27th, 1963 and started their family in 1965, living for a short time in Marysville, B.C. where Luke was employed at the Cominco mine. Creston became her forever home in 1966 where her and Luke transformed the raw land in west Arrowcreek into a thriving farm to sustain their lifestyle and raised their 3 children. She enjoyed homemaking, raising beef, pork, poultry, and growing huge gardens. Tena had a great love and compassion for all animals taking great pride in her work with them.
Tena was predeceased by her Father in May 1984, Mother March 1994, husband Luke June 1996, successively brother Peter Rempel, sisters Lena Fast, Gertie Bergen & Brother George Rempel.
She is survived by her children Arnold Hoeve of Creston, Shirley (Gordon) Jowsey of Cranbrook, Lee (Jamey) Hoeve of Creston, Grandson Bryan (Tonie-Marie) Jowsey, and James Jowsey of Cranbrook. Granddaughter Sophia of Cranbrook. Siblings Annie Wiebe of Creston, David Rempel of Prince Rupert, John Rempel of Saskatoon, and Sarah Rempel of Cranbrook. As well, numerous nieces and nephews and a number of her in-laws in Holland, Ontario, and British Columbia.
