Marie A. J. Laidlaw

Marie Laidlaw passed away at age 87 years, on December 23nd, 2023 at Swan Valley Respite Care, in Creston BC. Having played boardgames with loved ones just a few days prior, she spent her final quiet moments with the comfort of a few grandchildren and direct family. 

Marie was born in Vancouver BC on March 5, 1936, but settled in Smithers BC by 1950. She wed the late John Laidlaw at the Smithers United Church on March 1, 1954. They were married for 61 years, raising four children: John (Diane), George (Vernel), Cristal (Evan), and RaeJean (Richie). Marie is also loved dearly by her 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with dozens more who refer to her as "Gramma". 

Marie lived in Smithers BC for 63 years, until she moved to South Creston BC with John. Marie practiced worship in the name of Christ, with The Truth, from 1963 until her passing. 

She enjoyed hockey games, Scrabble, card games, and live music with her family. She would knit, do puzzles, and read in her own time. Marie lives on in many hearts as a loving Sister, Aunt, Mother, and Gramma.
