Obituary

Margaret Slimm

July 19, 1931 - June 22, 2023

Margaret was welcomed in to Heaven by her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ

on Thursday evening with her best friend and companion Janet by her side

and her son Michael holding her hand.

Janet was mom’s comfort and strength since Peter was taken from us in

2010. Margaret courageously battled leukemia with a quiet strength and

dignity that was an inspiration to everyone in her life.

Mom had a mischievous sense of humour and giggled at all of Janet’s corny

jokes. They formed a great friendship that will never be broken. Margaret is

now reunited with her precious Peter for eternity. They are holding hands

together watching over their family and friends. Their loving caring manner

will live on through all of us.

Margaret was born in Yorkshire, England, the second of 4 children. She told

all of us amazing stories about her beloved Mummy all the time. Mummy

cared for her small family throughout WWII. Their struggles were enormous

but they came through it together and intact.

Margaret met Peter in 1947 and they were married in 1953. This year they

would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 6th. Mom

was incredibly proud of this milestone!

Margaret and Peter had an enormous family and were so proud of all their

achievements and especially all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

They moved their little family to Canada in 1957 but it kept growing and

growing and growing. The family settled near Edmonton in 1959 with mom

tending to her growing family and adding new children along the way. They

went back to England in 1962 to have yet another child, the. It was back to

Calgary in 1963 to add 4 more over the next 5 years. They moved to

Bruderheim in 1969 and thankfully had their final child in 1970.

Peter was transferred back to Calgary in 1975 so the packed up the entire

circus and moved down the QEII to continue their journey together.

There are so many memories and stories to tell that we could fill these

pages with special thoughts of our dearest Mom.

Mom and Peter had so many pets but each one became a special family

member to Mom and she loved all of them. Emily looked after her after Peter

passed away for many years and their "little" Boo tomcat was a light in their

home just before Mom got sick. She enjoyed the unconditional love of all her

little animals.

Mom lived a full and happy life with some hard times but she never lost her

sense of humour and loved every single person in her life with an

unmatched passion and vigor.

Mom and Peter retired to Creston, BC in 1992 and spent many more years

enjoying each other’s company and making many more new friends in the

Valley. They loved the Valley and Mom will be buried together with Peter in

the Forest Lawn Cemetery just a short walk from their little slice of paradise.

The funeral will be held at the Creston Baptist Church with details and times

to be announced shortly. We will have a lunch to follow with a dedication

ceremony at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
