Manfred Range

On the 28th of June 2019, Manfred Range, beloved father, husband, brother, and community member, passed away suddenly of a heart attack

after 65 well-lived and joy-filled years. 

Manfred was born 30th November 1953 in the then small town of Grande Prairie, Alberta. He was the first of four sons born in Canada, though he had two older siblings born in Germany some years before his parents moved here. The family lived a life of agriculture for many years, the kids helping on the farm from an early age. In 1972 he graduated from high school, after which he pursued further education at a few different institutions in Alberta, namely Olds College, where he studied Agronomy among other things. Despite the agricultural upbringing, Manfred spent his life pursuing many different forms of work, everything from exterior finishing, which he did through his own business for some time, to home care for disabled people, to millwork, to yard care, and finally landscaping. He was happy to do most kinds of work, and he spent his life providing for his family in any way he could. 

In June of 1986, Manfred married Ann Cook, after a brief courtship during their time at bible college in the Peace River area. They fell quickly in love and were wed on the 7th of June that year. Not long after, they were parents to a young Hans Range. Following Hans came Thomas, and then some time Later, Marcus and Bernie. They lived in Edmonton for many years, before moving to Creston in 1996. In 2017, after all their children had moved out, they moved to Cultus Lake, in the lower mainland, in order to be closer to their sons who lived there. A year and a half later, the beautiful Creston Valley, their true home, drew them back. Wherever Manny lived, he always had an impact in his community, never rude to a stranger, always kind, and always willing to find a friend in anyone, no matter their lot in life, no matter their personality. He was a part of many communities over the years, some of which in person, and some through forums on the internet. He was an active member of the Baptist church and a passionate follower of the Lord. He loved missions and was planning to join the Baptist Church's mission to Mexico soon. He was involved in online communities dedicated to many interests, but especially those of Trucks and Tractors. He was a fan of poetry, and spent some time writing over sixty poems of his own unique style. He was in the process of writing a book about his life as well. But more than any of his other hobbies, he enjoyed spending time outdoors. Over the years, there were dozens and dozens of camping trips, hikes, swimming days, canoe trips, and adventures of all sorts and he passed this passion on to his kids who all share many great memories of their dad and his adventures with them.

Manfred was Predeceased by his father, Hans Range, his mother, Anneliese Range, and his sister, Sigrid Inkster.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Range, his four sons, Hans, Tom, Bernie, and Marcus, and his four brothers, Ed Henneberg, Bernie Range, Harry Range, and Henry Range

Manfred was a wonderful, happy soul, loved by all who knew him. His early passing leaves an un-fillable hole in the world, but his spirit will live on in the fond memories of those who knew him.

His Celebration of Life was held
