John (Jack) William McLeod P. Geol.
January 9,1936 – April 13, 2019
Jack was born on January 9, 1936, the son of Robert and Emily McLeod. He passed away on April 13, 2019 in the town of Riondel, B.C. after a very brief illness.
He enjoyed many summers as a child at Kootenay Lake, and later introduced his own family to the beauty of the lake in a cabin on Pilot Bay Rd.
Although a prairie boy who grew up in Lethbridge AB, he always loved to be near the water whether Kootenay Lake or the shores of Vancouver Island and Hawaii. He had a love for unspoiled nature and enjoyed collecting rocks, shells and other relics of the sea.
He is predeceased by his parents and his first grandchild, Duncan Landells McLeod (Rob and Asha). Jack is survived by his former wife, Marion, and their three children Rob (Viv), Rory (Beth), and Catharine (David Berndt). Jack leaves behind six grandchildren: Connor, Logan, Erin, Rhys, Barret and Lyndey. He is also survived by his sisters Fran Muehle and Helen White and their families.
Cremation has taken place and a family service of remembrance will be planned in the future. In Jack’s memory donations to the Royal Canadian Legion or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF ) to find a cure for Type One Diabetes are gratefully accepted.
