JOHN JAMES DYCK
March 25, 1963 - August 26, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Dyck on August 26, 2021, at Creston, BC.
John was born in Coaldale, Alberta and spent his childhood living on an acreage just outside Lethbridge, Alberta. His Passion as a young man was riding dirt bikes with his friends. Even now, he so enjoyed watching the motocross racing on the sports networks. He also loved NFL football and his favorite hockey team the Edmonton Oilers. At age 17 his father decided to take John to work and he began his apprenticeship as a plumber and gasfitter resulting in his Red Seal Journeyman certification. John's father and mother, Peter and Frieda Dyck, were lost to a car accident in March 1988 and this changed the course of John's life. He truly missed his Dad and Mom Every day.
In 1989 John married Jacquelin Bergen. They moved to Edmonton in 1992 and John embarked on the next chapter of his career working in the construction of hotels and commercial complexes in northern Alberta, the Territories and the Arctic. John was a very hard worker and took pride in a job well done. The building inspectors always complimented him on his straight, neat pipe work. In 2010 John and Jackie settled in Creston, BC, a beautiful town that young John and his family often visited on summer holiday. In 2016 he quit plumbing and came home to enjoy life in Creston. John was a master of home renovation. He acquired a lot of skills during his time in construction, and he was able to do all of the work himself (from roofing to finishes) on the three homes that he and Jackie transitioned through. He always kept his yard looking beautiful and tended; he loved making little changes and improving the landscape. John was a talented cook and took great pleasure in making his own recipes and watching others enjoy his food.
John is survived by his wife Jackie, brothers Harry (Beverly Cousins) Dyck, Peter (Sheri) Dyck, sisters Annie (Ernie) Dyck, Melva (Bryce) Stinson, Dorothy (Trent) Stuart, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Peter and Frieda Dyck.
Graveside service to be held at a later date in Coaldale, Alberta.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
