Gale Woods of Creston, BC passed away in loving arms on December 4th, 2024. She was born on April 19th, 1945, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, to Nick and Averil Geiger, in the middle of their five children. She had two sisters, Kay and Beth, and two brothers, Stanton and Klair. Gale attended school in various communities, finishing her final 12th-grade year in the Crowsnest Pass, where she met her future husband of 57 years, Stan Woods. After graduating from the Gault School of Nursing as an x-ray technician, she moved to Creston to live with her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Gale. There, she began her career at the Creston Valley Hospital, where she worked for over 25 years.
On August 19th of 1967, she married Stan, and they had two sons, Brent and Keith, and a daughter, Jessica. Gale was active in her faith and attended for over 50 years at Creston Baptist Church, where she served as a trustee, labour of love, and a number of other roles. She was a camp cook at Crowsnest Lake Bible Camp for many summers and a monitor at Creston Valley Christian School, where her children attended. She enjoyed crewel embroidery and ceramics, making many treasured keepsakes for family and friends. Skiing, bike riding, and camping with her husband and kids were also favorite pastimes. Gale loved to spoil her grandchildren, read, and beat the guys in a good game of cards.
Later, Gale and Stan did a lot of travelling, visiting Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Central America, Hawaii, and throughout most of the United States and Canada. Many of these trips and cruises were taken with Stan’s brother Don and Leone, Roy and Sheila Stevens, or other family members, her favorite being the Alaskan cruise.
Gale was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Averil Geiger and brother, Stanton (Maxine) Geiger. She is survived by her loving husband, Stan; children Brent (Julie), Keith (May), and Jessica. As well as seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Kay (Jerry) Gorrill and Beth (Ben) VanderHeide, brother Klair (Maureen) Geiger, and numerous extended family members.
