Frank Bjarnason passed away in the Creston Valley Hospital on March 27, 2025 after a brief illness.  Frank was born in Vancouver in 1958 and always regretted that dad drove to the hospital too efficiently and that he wasn’t born in the back of a ‘55 Chevy on the Burrard Street bridge. Frank’s family lived in Nanaimo before moving to Creston in 1969. Frank graduated from PCSS in 1976.

Frank was always mechanically inclined and was the sibling we went to if we needed a bike fixed or a car worked on. As a teen he spent several years involved with Army Cadets which taught him outdoorsmanship and survival and first aid skills.  He enjoyed summers away at cadet camp in Vernon.

Frank spent most of his career in construction building metal structures all over Canada.  He would return home every Christmas with stories from communities from Pickle Lake, Ontario to Tuktoyaktuk to Frobisher Bay (now Iqaluit) and various remote locations in between.  Most recently he could be seen working in the local Independent grocery store.

Frank was colourblind and so always dressed in denim in shades of blue.  He didn’t want to accidently purchase bright purple clothes by mistake.  He insisted the colour purple didn’t exist.

We have fond memories of Trivial Pursuit games, discussing books, music and current events, and working on puzzles together (at which he was excellent, as he could focus on the shapes rather than the colours).  Frank played pool weekly and had friends in the valley to share a beer with.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Don and Bobbie and his brother Robert.  He is survived by his brother Richard, sister Louise, all of his sibling’s spouses and his nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Creston Hospital for the kind care they gave Frank.

Private interment will be held at the Lister Pioneer Cemetery at a later date.
