Eva Ruprecht Obituary

Eva Margarete (Roehl) Ruprecht
May 16, 1926 – September 26, 2025 (99 yrs)

Eva was born in Berlin, Germany, the middle of three children, and grew up in the small town of Friedeberg (now Strzelce-Krajenskie, Poland), east of Berlin. She had an idyllic childhood in a loving family with freedom to explore the outdoors to her heart’s content.

In January 1945, Eva fled west with her father on the last train out of town. Under difficult circumstances with many close calls, they miraculously made it to Lübeck where they were able to meet up with her mother and two siblings. After the war, Eva continued her schooling and became a registered nurse. Biking to work one day, a young man introduced himself to her while they both waited at a train crossing. Over the next two years, Eva and Ferdinand’s acquaintance grew and love blossomed. They married in Nov 1952, and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada.

In Canada, Eva gave birth to Karin, Irene and Ingrid, putting her heart and soul into being an attentive mother. She was a meticulous home-maker with an eye for beauty and color. Eva enjoyed reading, crocheting, classical music, tending her flowers, visiting with friends, attending church, and being in the out-of-doors. Always enthusiastic in learning new things, she taught herself how to play the organ, filling the home with music for a portion of every day. Eva worked hard to obtain a Canadian R.N. license, becoming employed as a nurse at a 100-bed long-term care facility. Later, Eva became its Director of Nursing.

After retirement, Eva and Fred fell in love with Creston, B.C. and resettled in this beautiful valley. Graduations, weddings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren followed. Every event was attended and celebrated. With her love for independence and the outdoors running strong even at 99, Eva would take her electric wheelchair out for a spin to enjoy the fields and flowers. After a short downturn, she passed away with daughters at her side. Ferdinand, her husband of 72 years, predeceased her by a mere 8 months.

Eva leaves behind her brother Werner, three daughters with their husbands; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Creston Seventh-Day Adventist church on November 15th, 2025, at 2:30 pm.
