Donald Nygren Obituary

Donald James Nygren was born into a Loving Family, a twin, to his father Oscar and Mother Ida on June 5, 1941 at home on Sec. 14. Tp. 39 Rge 13, W2 close to Rose Valley in Saskatchewan. Donald passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 with his wife Lana by his side. Don took his schooling in Wadena. Growing up he helped out on the farm with his siblings Lorne, Royce, Wyonne, Benita, and twin brother Dennis. There was a lot of hard work on the farm but lots of fun times as well. Don left home at the age of 17 for work in what ended up to be a 50 yr. insulating career. Don enjoyed his work and was well liked by his employers who phoned to request him to go back to work often after he retired.

Don was married to Mariette Patenaude. They had one daughter Sandra. They were married for many years. The three of them lived in Botswana, Africa for 1 ½ yrs. which he enjoyed and loved the wildlife. They divorced and many years later he met Lana. He was needing a card partner and got a life partner. They were together for a couple of years and decided to make it permanent and married on February 11, 2005. He gained a son Michael and two additional daughters Sherry and Nicki, with their families also adding to the list of who loved him.

Loving to travel, Don toured Europe with relatives and took his Mother to walk the Great Wall of China. He and Lana enjoyed trips to a Scandinavian Festival in North Dakota enjoying good entertainment and great food. They also enjoy touring Italy for 3 weeks which was wonderful. Don also enjoyed hunting with his Brother-in-law Arnold and Cousin Harold. Adding fishing trips to his list with his brothers and friends. He was always up to play a game of crib or poker with friends and family. He especially enjoyed talking to and playing games on his computer with his daughter Sandra who lives in California. Don always looked forward to the occasional trip to a casino or the gold course. He found peace camping at the lake relaxing and reading while enjoying their little dogs. Don was a man who never complained about anything, was generous and always willing to help. He enjoyed listening to his “Western” music. Although he was a quiet man he loved to play little tricks on people. We will always remember his favorite saying “Helluva Good” if he like something.

Don is preceded in death by his father Oscar, mother Ida, brothers Lorne (Mary), Royce, an infant brother Morris, Sister Wyonne Mozseanko (Orest Dubick), and brother-in-law Arnold Josephson. Don is survived by his wife Lana, daughter Sandra (Michelle), sister Benita, twin brother Dennis (Jean), sister-in-law Clara, bonus children son Michael (Rhonda) grandchildren Brandon, Reina, great- grandson Nicholas, grandson Alek (Candace), daughter Sherri (Wes) grandson Matthew, great grand-children Delaina, Micah, Niko, grand-daughter Kristin (Dallas) great grandson Blake, daughter Nicki (Mike) grandsons, Brayden & Josh and many nieces and nephews.
