Avril Oliver was born in Yorks, England, on March 31st, 1935. She attended the Church of England elementary school run by the minister, Reverend Matthews. She came regularly to the school and taught the Bible to the students. Avril could memorize whole sections from the Bible. After graduating from high school, she chose to be a nurse and trained at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. It was there she met David Oliver, who was a patient at the hospital with a foot injury. Avril had to give him a penicillin injection in the middle of the night. David asked Avril out on a date. Avril graduated as a state-registered nurse in 1956, and she and David were married that same year. They emigrated to Canada in 1957. Avril is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Oliver and Michelle Quinn, and her granddaughters, Olivia, McKinley, and Sarah.
