Tracy Whetter

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tracy Whetter (nee Spiers) on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 after a two-year battle with bladder cancer. Born on June 29, 1963 in Duncan, British Columbia to Ken and Mildred Spiers, she spent her childhood in Creston, British Columbia and on the shores of Kootenay Lake at Twin Bays with her sister Kym, family, and friends.

Tracy moved to Calgary, Alberta to achieve a diploma in Physical Education from Mount Royal College. There, she also met Martin Whetter and they were married in 1994 and had two children, Carly and Jennifer. They travelled the world together, living in Shanghai and then Shenzhen, China for 13 years, before moving back to beautiful British Columbia in 2016.  

Tracy loved adventure. She was game for anything and could be often found in the great outdoors. She was a 3-time finisher of the Great Wall Half Marathon, led many hikes for the Shenzhen Women’s International Club in Shekou and Hong Kong, China, and loved exploring the Kootenays and Rockies. 

Tracy was predeceased by her father Kenneth Spiers in 1977. 

Tracy will be greatly missed by her husband Marty; her children Carly and Jennifer; her mother Mildred; and sister Kym (Claude, Jarrod & Janae); and many other extended family members and friends. 

Tracy lived with courage, heart, kindness, and humour. In spite of everything during the past two years, she lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 8 at 2:00 pm at G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel Ltd. at 225 - 15th Ave. North, Creston BC V0B 1G0. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be be made to Creston and District Society’s Therapeutic Riding Program.
