Norman Beddoes Obituary

We celebrate the life of Norman William Beddoes, passing at the age of 92.

Born in Bentley, AB, and raised on the family homestead farm, Norman was the 5th of 6 children. He attended school in Lockhart Community. His lifelong love of the outdoors, hard work and family were firmly developed in these childhood years.

Norman’s adult years led him from Bentley to Penticton, on to Langley and eventually to the Creston Valley. During these years he worked in many trades, developing into a very skilled craftsman and building homes for his family and others from concept to completion.

While in Langley, Norm met Florence Mann, his lifelong love and partner. They were married in December 1952 and started building their family and future. During the early years of their marriage they were the original ‘home flippers’ purchasing, renovating and reselling homes.  The family moved to Creston in 1965 to own and operate the Valley View Motel. For the next 25 years Norman built homes and completed renovations throughout the valley. In 1992 they built and moved into their retirement home/project that became ‘home base’ for the family and an open door to relatives and friends.

Vacations for Norm were most often outdoor adventures of camping, fishing and exploring the countryside. Often family and friends joined in the fun. In retirement Norm and Flo travelled with their RV north and south throughout Canada and the US and also enjoyed a Panama Canal cruise.

Norman was husband to Florence and Father to Bev, Eileen, Dianne and Ross, Father-in-law to Howard, Mark, Joanne and Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Norman truly enjoyed the life that surrounded him; a beautiful home and yard, his family, many long and lasting friendships and all the adventures afforded him through his love of nature and the outdoors.

Norman took pride in designing and building, from small toys to large homes and was meticulous to the details. Pieces of his craftsmanship will be treasured along with so many memories.
