Marion Meredith Obituary

Marion quietly slipped away from us on Monday, May 20, 2019 at age 79 after several months of declining health.
Marion was born December 27, 1939 in Vancouver. Her family lived in Britannia Beach at that time but moved to Kimberley shortly after. Marion was the second daughter and middle child of Mabel and Gordon Stewart. She completed her elementary and secondary education in Kimberley. Marion was active in church and dance activities but it soon became evident that all things related to children and home economics were her passions.
Marion married the love of her life, Bob at an early age. Bob was a young school teacher from Cranbrook. They started their family soon after. Debbie, Bobby and Terri were born while they lived in Cranbrook. The family moved to Riondel in 1964. A fourth child Carol was born while living there. 1972 saw the family move to Creston and Gordie arrived a few months later.
Marion was kept busy with her family of five kids and an active husband. Her house, kids and husband were kept amazingly clean and tidy. Her cooking, baking and sewing were legendary. Marion loved visiting with family and friends and was brilliant at maintaining contacts. She loved to attend events in which her family and friends participated. Bob and Marion traveled all over BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan to watch sports events and dance competitions in which their kids and grandkids participated. She worked for several years at Pharmasave where her cheery disposition, incredible penmanship and spelling were renowned. Marion volunteered for several organizations over the years including the Cancer Society, Citizens on Patrol and the Rotary Club.
Marion was predeceased by daughter Carol who was tragically taken in 1997, her parents Gordon and Mabel and Bob’s parents Ray and Marie Meredith.
Marion is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob Meredith of Creston; Debra Page (Gary) of Prince George, Bob Meredith Jr (Sharon) of Sherwood Park, Terri Little (Gord) of Sherwood Park, Gord Meredith (Farley) of Maple Ridge; sister Bev Maher of Cranbrook; brother Norman Stewart of Surrey; grandchildren Barry, Brack, Meredith, Brittany, Jordan, Jacquelyn, Josh, Meghan, Jaime and Hannah; three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Creston and District Community Complex on June 7, 2019 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ‘Creston and District Society for Community Living’ PO Box 1820 Creston, BC, V0B 1G0.
